I’ve done the ladybugs and the dragonflies, so it was time for the butterflies!  I wanted to go a little lighter and more colorful on this one.

You will need:
–  Silicone bug mold
Click on the picture for a direct link to the mold I use, it’s just $5.99:
Bug and Butterfly Scalloped Silicone Baking Mold
–  Resin – I used Easy Cast (www.eti-usa.com)
–  Nail polish
–  Acrylic paint
–  Glitter (fine purple, fine green, chunky green)
–  Mold release (optional – it helps condition you molds and makes them last longer, but the molds work fine without it too)
Here is the video tutorial:

Directions:
1.  Take your mold and using acrylic paint, or nail polish, paint in areas of the mold that you want to paint.  The acrylic paint might need two coats.  Get as colorful and creative as you want!  Allow to fully dry.
2.  Prepare your resin according to the package directions.  Split into two small cups.
3.  Mix the fine purple glitter into the resin.
4.  Mix the fine green glitter and a little bit of the darker chunky glitter into the other batch of resin.
5.  Pour into the molds.
6.  Allow at least 12 hours to cure.
7.  Unmold and now you have these fun and beautiful butterflies!!
