DIY Bedroom Love Sign

When you are decorating a room, the walls are just as important as the furniture.  I love home decor ideas, especially if it can be personalized to fit your style!
In this case, I wanted to make bedroom decor and this is perfect for the master bedroom, living room decor or really any room. It is a perfect element to be added to a boho chic living room, just change the word!

Today we are making a love sign.

You will need to create your wall art:

Plaque:  I bought it at Hobby Lobby, but here are some great alternatives:

Here is the video tutorial, so you can see exactly how I made it:
Directions:

1.  I gathered the parts for my sign.

I used the same love in last years heart art project, which you can find HERE.

2.  The first thing I did was distress the plaque.  I used an ice pick and a screwdriver.  You can also use a chisel and a hammer.
To make things go a little quicker, I broke out my Dremel, but that is optional.
3.  I used two different grays and painted it on.  If it is too thick, you can water it down.

4.  I then used a dry paper towel and wiped off any excess.  If you want to remove more, you can use a wet paper towel.

Keep going until you get the whole board covered, front and back.
5.  I took my “I” and my “U” and used my Dremel to soften the edges.  Just a little, nothing major.  You can use sandpaper too, or just leave it.

6.  I painted the “I” and “U” white.  Figure it will take multiple coats.

7.  I painted the love aqua…again multiple coats.
8.  I figured out my placement and then I thought about it and I liked the love by itself just as well.
9.  I put the removable strips on the back of all of the letters.

I went with the removable strips, so if I want to change the look, with different letter or even for the holidays, I can!

Here it is!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember:  Life’s too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™  Stay safe!
