Easy Spooky-Cute DIY Bookmark with Tassel

Make a spooky-cute DIY bookmark with tassel! This Halloween bookmark tutorial uses resin, glitter, and ghost designs for the perfect fall craft.

If you are anything like me, you’ve probably started a dozen books and misplaced at least half a dozen bookmarks (don’t worry, receipts and scrap paper totally count).

This year, I decided to level up my reading game with a little spooky flair. Enter the DIY bookmark with tassel – a Halloween craft that’s just as fun to make as it is to use!

I’m sharing how I whipped up a Halloween bookmark that’s cute, sparkly, and ready to haunt all your fall reads.

How to Make a Halloween Bookmark with Tassel

Making this ghost DIY bookmark is easy and fun! Here’s a simple step-by-step on how to make a bookmark with resin…specifically UV resin.

Step 1: Base Layer

Squeeze a thin coat of UV resin into your silicone mold – just enough to cover the bottom.

Smooth the resin before curing, so it’s not lumpy for the next step.

Cure under the UV light to harden the DIY bookmark.

Step 2: Add the Halloween Fun

Apply the ghost temporary tattoos – the directions come with the tattoos.

Quick basic directions: Peel off the plastic front, flip it onto the cured resin, and apply a damp paper towel – don’t over-wet it. The tattoo will separate from the backing and slip off, leaving your tattoo behind.

Gently dry off the resin so no water is left behind.

Dab DON’T Rub!

Once the tattoo is on, you can then take the nail art stickers and start decorating. I went pretty random and used bats, witches, pumpkins, spiders, and skulls.

Basically, if it screams Halloween, stick it on!

Step 3: Glitter Magic

Mix a little purple glitter with the resin and dab it here and there. Do the same with black glitter for spooky sparkle. Cure under the UV light.

Step 4: Seal and Cure

Apply a super-thin layer of UV resin to encapsulate everything.

Cure again until it’s fully hardened and then pop it out of the mold. For good measure, flip it over and do a precautionary cure on the back.

Step 5: Tassel Time

Smooth any rough edges with an emery board, then loop the tassel through the hole. Pull tight, and voila’ – custom bookmark with tassel that’s Halloween ready!

Tips for Making the Perfect DIY Book Mark

  • Keep your layers thin, so the bookmark slides easily between the pages. The mold allows for thicker bookmarks, but if you are going to use it for regular books, just plan on going thinner.
  • Don’t stress if you get rough edges! A nail file or emery board smooths them right out.
  • Switch up the theme! I made a ghost bookmark, but you can make bats, pumpkins, or witches for a whole spooky collection.

See? That wasn’t scary at all! This DIY bookmark is the perfect mix of crafty and bookish charm.
