Recycle Water Bottles and Turn Them Into Calla Lilies!

Recycle old water bottles and turn them into calla lilies.  Could you imagine how cute a bouquet of these would be on a little girls tea party table?  It’s easy and fun!

Materials:
–  Empty water bottles (16.9 oz)
–  Permanent markers
–  Faux gems
–  Pipe cleaners (only need half of a pipe cleaner per flower)
–  Heat gun (the kind used in rubber stamping)
–  Scissors
–  Hot glue
–  Wood skewer
Directions:
1.  Carefully cut off the top portion (approximately top 1/3) of the water bottle.  Most bottles are pretty thin and cut easily with regular scissors.  Take the cap off to cut the bottle, otherwise there will be air trapped inside.  After cutting it, screw cap back on.
2.  Cut a slit down one side.  Trim sharp corners and round the top edges of the slit area.
3.  Take permanent market and color the outside of the bottle.  (You can do the inside or outside, depending on which look you prefer.)
4.  Take skewer or something that will allow you to hold the bottle in place while using the heat gun.  Begin heating the plastic with the heat gun.  It will melt quickly and you may want to alternate heating it inside and outside – again depending on the look you prefer.  There is no right or wrong.
5.  When you have finished melting the flower portion and it has cooled, turn it over and heat the cap.  Heat the cap until it is soft enough to puncture with the skewer.  You want the hole to be large enough to fit the pipe cleaner.
6.  Cut pipe cleaner in half.  Bend a small portion into an “L” shape at one end.  Stick the pipe cleaner through the hole.
7.  Make sure the hot glue is well heated and carefully put it in the inside of the flower portion, where the bottle cap is.  It should cover the pipe cleaner and more.  Carefully put the gem into the flower, being careful to keep the gem side up.
8.  Tap gem into the hot glue.
That’s it!  Enjoy your new bouquet!
They add color and don’t need any watering!
