Resin Skyline Pendant DIY | Resin Crafts | Craft Klatch

Learn how to create a skyline pendant using color blending.  I did Chicago, but you could personalize it to your favorite town, or personalize it as a gift!

Here’s a quickie tutorial, so you can see how I made it:

To drill the hole, I recommend using a drill or rotary tool, with a small drill bit.  I use a Dremel similar to this:

Eye pin:
Eye screw:

1.  Gather your supplies, including your plastic mold and decide which shape you want to use.  I chose the rectangle.

 2.  After printing your image on transparency film, cut it to size using scissors.  You can print on transparency film using a laser printer or an inkjet printer, just make sure when you purchase your transparency film that you buy the one that goes with your particular printer.  You can also have it photocopied onto transparency film too.

 3.  Mix a small amount of resin – it should take less than a half an ounce.  Then pour it into your mold.  If you have extra, you can make more by putting it into other cavities.

4.  Slide your image into the resin.

5.  Press your image down into the mold, making sure to press out any bubbles that may be trapped under the transparency film.

6.  Use a lighter to pop the bubbles and let it sit for 12 hours.

7.  Mix more resin and separate into two cups.

 8.  Mix a little India ink into your resin.  I used red and blue, but you can use any colors you would like.

 9.  Drip each of the colors into your mold.

10.  You can let it blend naturally, or you can help it along using a skewer.

11.  Use your lighter to pop the bubbles and let it cure a minimum of 12 hours.

12.  Once cured, you can pop it out of your mold.

13.  Now you have a really beautiful piece.

14.  You can either drill a hole into the piece, or you can add a glue on bezel.
