Today we are making tree coasters that are a combination of wood and resin.

You will need:
Wood disks (you can find them cheaper at Hobby Lobby):  http://amzn.to/2ebxJ8w
Polycrylic:  http://amzn.to/2dtKJSZ
Resin:  http://amzn.to/2e5PpRE
Resin pigment dye:  http://amzn.to/2edbwJJ
Packing tape:  http://amzn.to/2ez62oh

Here is the video tutorial:

1.  Seal the wood disks with the Polycrylic.  I used a gloss.  Follow the directions on the can of the finish.  I did three coats and sanded between the coats.
2.  Once dry, line one side of the coasters with packing tape, making sure to rub it down, so it creates a good seal.
2. Mix resin, according to the package directions.
Tip:  Work is small batches, of resin otherwise it will set up before you are ready to use it all.
3.  Mix your pigment into the resin.  I did opaque brown for the tree trunks and limbs.  I used transparent colors for the leaves and apples.
4.  This process will take time and patience.  Drip the individual colors into the holes.  You can use your stir stick to drip, but you might want to use a toothpick for some of the smaller holes.
5.  Once everything is filled, run your lighter across it.  WARNING:  Remember you are working with wood.  Run the lighter across the resin areas quickly because you do not want to set your coasters on fire.
6.  Allow to cure a minimum of 12 hours.
7.  Pull the tape off the back of the coasters and that’s it!!!

Now you have some stunning coasters!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember:  Life’s too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™  Stay safe!
