Directions:

1.  I found these cute wood slate signs and thought they would be perfect for coasters.  I removed the strings.

2.  I used an ice pick and a screwdriver to mar the surface.  I thought they looked like they were in too good of condition and needed to be a little distressed.

3.  I painted them their base colors.  One was green and the other pink.

4.  I used my Cricut to cut out a flamingo and a palm tree from vinyl.

5.  I applied them to the signs and rubbed them down really well – especially the edges.

6.  Once I applied the vinyl, I took the same color as the background, and painted it all over the front of the sign.  I made to sure to go in all directions.  I did this because if there is a chance of paint running under the vinyl, you want it to be the same color.  This will allow you to get nice crisp edges.

7.  I then painted over everything with a mixture of grays and white, to give it a washed out look.

8.  Once dry, I peeled off the vinyl.

9.  I used a matte varnish to go protect the signs, so they could be used as coasters.

That’s it!  Now you have some coasters that bring you to the beach!

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember:  Life’s too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!™  Stay safe!
