I like to give unique gifts, but sometimes it can be hard to think of something original. I was thinking about a wedding gift that would be a simple project that a newly married couple could create together. What could be better than to meld the two people together in a piece of art, that is simple to make?
I was sent some Art Resin to try, so I gave it a shot on this project.

You can personalize the gift kit to match colors in the couples home, or even make them wedding colors. I suggest getting a nice box to put it all in and wrap it up pretty!
You will need:
– Canvas – I used a 12″ x 12″
– Acrylic paint – I used a light pink, a hot pink and a red – as I mentioned earlier, you can personalize the color to anything!
– Letter or number stickers or stencils ~ I put names in the heart, but the couple could put a message or their wedding date in there instead.
– Resin – You just need a small kit – 4 – 6 ounces is plenty (I used Art Resin)
– Contact paper heart
You might want to toss in some small plastic cups, stir sticks, small sponge brushes as well.

Directions:
1. Paint the canvas with your background color. Allow to dry.
2. Cut a heart out of contact paper and gently tap it down on the canvas – don’t rub it down.
3. Paint your hands with the acrylic paint – you should each use a different color. (TIP: If you lotion your hands first, it is easier to was the paint off later.)
4. Put a hand print onto the canvas. Print all over the canvas, overlapping each other’s prints and over the heart.
5. Once you have the canvas covered, carefully pull off the contact paper heart. Allow to dry.
6. Put stickers in the middle of the heart or stencil something (names, wedding date, special message, etc.).
7. Protect your work surface with a garbage bag, parchment paper, or layers of newspapers.
8. I used four water bottle caps – use all the same kind so your project stays level. Put them under your canvas.
9. Prepare at least 3 ounces of resin and pour over the canvas. Use a stir stick to help move it around. Yes you want it to go over the sides. Remember to always follow the directions on the resin you are using.
10. Allow it to cure at least 12 hours before handling.
Now go hang up your masterpiece!
