Learn how to paint on resin with this simple snowman scene coaster. Easy steps show how to make a charming winter craft.
There is something magical about winter crafts. Maybe it’s the sparkle, maybe it’s the blue and silver glitter, or maybe it’s the cozy feeling you get when you sit down to create a little snowman scene while the world outside is cooling off…or for some…in a deep freeze!
Even here in Florida, where winter means I might need long pants and a sweatshirt, I still love making snowy crafts that bring me right back to the frigid Chicago winters…minus the shoveling, of course.

Instructions in Just 5 Easy Steps
Step 1: Create the Sparkly Winter Background
Mix one ounce of resin with fine blue and silver glitter. Pour it into your mold and pop the bubbles.

The layer sets the magical, frosty background for your snowman scene, and honestly, it’s so pretty you may want to pour a few extra just for fun.
Let it cure completely.
Step 2: Paint the Snowman Base
Once your background is cured, grab your thin brush and white acrylic paint. Start by painting the snowy ground and then the snowman’s body.

Don’t overthink it…snowmen are charming because they are so simple.
If you’re just learning how to paint on resin, this step is perfect for practicing simple strokes.
Step 3: Add the Snowman Details
Use brown for the twig arms, orange for the carrot nose, black for the coal eyes, and the smile, and add simple snowflakes in the background.

These little touches bring your snowman scene to life.
Step 4: Seal the Artwork
Mix another ounce of resin and pour a clear layer over your painting.

If you’re experimenting with painting on resin, when you pour the topcoat, you are going to see that everything looks better with resin.
Step 5: Cure and Admire
Let your coaster cure completely. Then, hold it up and admire your winter masterpiece!
You’ve not only created a beautiful craft, you’ve also learned how to paint on resin and turned a simple idea into a shimmering snowman scene.

You can keep it for yourself and display it, or use it as a coaster. Or you can proudly give it as a gift.
